Let’s talk about uncertainty
You know those moments when life feels like a rollercoaster, and you don’t know which way is up? Scary, right?
So often we fear the unknown. We fear what we can’t see ahead.
I love this quote where Richard Rudd speaks about the risks of staying in the known:
“Our need for certainty can also take the route of fear. We can lock ourselves into routines that keep us from breathing and that throttle our creative spirit.
We can become unconsciously obsessed with finding certainty, perhaps through a will to power or through a self destructive tendency.
We can fix our minds on certainty through a set of manufactured beliefs that keep us from being open-minded and flexible.
We can become a victim of the details and drudgery of life, or we can become a workaholic and live in a state of denial. We seek these kinds of routines out of our deep fear of the uncertainty of life.”
-Richard Rudd, the Pearl Sequence
Think about it: How often do we get stuck in our comfy, predictable ways because we're scared of the unknown? Whether it's sticking to a job that doesn't light us up or holding onto beliefs that don't serve us anymore, certainty can be a sneaky thief of joy and fulfillment.
But here's the kicker—uncertainty isn't the enemy. It's actually where the magic happens. If we can step into the unknown and trust we’ll be supported, that is where the most growth and expansion can be found!
