Keep your goals sacred
A word of warning during goal setting season:
Be mindful of who you set your goals around.
Some people can’t think big, won’t think big, and it can influence you in the goals you are trying to make.
If you have goals that people don’t understand or quite get - good. It’s because they are yours not theirs.
Find the expansive friends that ask you to “go bigger” or “add details” “tell me how you feel” - rather than judge, question or doubt what you’re trying to do.
It’s so key that you’re around the right types of people during these periods when you’re setting your sights on what you’re creating this year.
Let’s unpack this more.
The people you surround yourself with can significantly influence how you dream and plan.
Some people, whether knowingly or unknowingly, operate within limits—they can’t or won’t think big.
And if you're not careful, their limiting beliefs might seep into your process, causing you to question your ambitions or shrink your dreams to fit their worldview.
Your goals are meant to reflect your unique vision, not someone else’s.
The best goals often defy explanation because they come from the deep, intuitive parts of us that others may not fully understand. And that’s okay.
But this doesn’t mean you should isolate yourself entirely.
The key is to find people who fuel your growth rather than hold you back.
Seek out the expansive thinkers—those friends or mentors who light up at the mention of a new idea. They’re the ones who will encourage you to “go bigger,” ask for the finer details and genuinely care about how your dreams make you feel.
These are the individuals who will help you stretch your imagination and push past perceived limits.
By contrast, be wary of those who respond with doubt, judgment or a tendency to downplay your aspirations.
Their skepticism often has more to do with their own fears and limitations than with the validity of your goals.
Remember: Their lack of understanding is not a reflection of your potential.
The period when you're setting your sights on what you want to create in 2025 is pivotal. You’re in a fertile space, crafting not just goals but the foundation of your future.
Protect that space fiercely.
Nurture it with encouragement, curiosity, and positive energy. Share your vision only with those who have proven they’ll honor and uplift it.
If you don’t already have these “expansive friends,” consider seeking them out. Join communities aligned with your interests, attend retreats (hehe, you know I have a few upcoming!) or connect with like-minded individuals online.
Here’s a good question to ask yourself: Are the people in my circle inspiring me or are they keeping me stuck/ aligned with a version of myself that is no longer true?
Then, align yourself accordingly.
