Permission to stop performing
Here’s a soft truth I’ve had to come back to again (and again, and again):
Live your life by how it feels to you—not by how it looks to anyone else.
We’re taught to perform so early.
To curate.
To adjust.
To shape-shift based on what will be accepted or applauded.
We learn to measure our lives by how they look—how they appear on paper or now, how they sound in a caption. How they stack up against someone else's version of success.
But the more of this path I walk, the more I’ve realized: A life that looks good but doesn’t feel good is still a cage.
I remember a time when everything “looked” right. The opportunities, the photos, the relationships, the metrics. And yet—I felt disconnected.
Honestly, I felt exhausted. Like I was living next to my truth rather than inside of it.
That moment was a turning point. I realized that if I don’t trust how it feels in my body…
No amount of external validation will ever feel like enough. This is the deeper work—choosing presence over performance. Choosing peace over perception. Choosing yourself over your image.
Here’s what I’ve come to believe:
You don’t need your life to be aesthetically pleasing to be aligned.
You don’t need your healing to be beautiful to be real.
You don’t need your joy to be performative to be valid.
You only need to honor what’s real—for you.
Sometimes alignment looks like canceling plans you once begged for.
Sometimes it’s changing your mind after you’ve already committed.
Sometimes it’s letting go of something that’s “on brand” but no longer in integrity.
It’s not always clean. It’s not always pretty. But it’s honest. And your body knows the difference.
Your life isn’t a performance. It’s a sacred experience.
Let it be lived and felt. Babe, let it be YOURS.
I don’t normally provide journal prompt in these newsletters, but I felt called to invite you to ask yourself:
Where in my life am I choosing how something looks over how it feels?
What would shift if I prioritized my truth—even if it didn’t make sense to others?
Your answers to these questions will reveal so much about your path forward.
